Dear Professors,

Lam Research has a long history of supporting higher education and providing gifts to universities around the world in support of cutting-edge research of interest to the semiconductor industry. We are announcing our annual “Unlock Ideas” call for proposals which will be open for submission on May 1 – 28, 2021. Unlock Ideas campaign is designed to support new research ideas that could improve Lam’s products, services and increase our speed to solution. This is an annual call for proposals to fund academic research collaborations sponsored by the Office of the CTO (OCTO). We typically award 20 proposals with a USD$25,000 donation to a university professor for testing the idea within a 12-month period. Submit your proposal of disruptive ideas: • Address Lam’s grand challenges; focus on gaps in Tech Vision’s enabling Technology in Semiconductor Industry and Lam’s future products • Support fundamental research relevant to semiconductor Industry and Lam

• Encourage risk-taking towards advanced technologies

• Propose concepts to improve our productivity and sustainability

• Apply to our hardware, software & controls, automation & robotics, and processes & materials • Partnering between Lam Taiwan sponsor and university professor

• Include a 1-3 page abstract that describes the research idea, how it will be tested and its relevance to Lam

• Target for completion in less than 12 months

• Be free of all intellectual property and publication restrictions

Proposal Review Procedures:

• Early submission of proposal draft to Lam Taiwan

• Final Submission to Unlock Ideas Committee in Lam Research Headquarter (done by Lam Taiwan correspondents, May 29th)

• Award announcement (early Aug, exact date will be noticed no later than end of April) by Unlock Ideas Committee
